The Recognised Construction Details (RCD) portal has been created by the Building Alliance Interest Company. The Building Alliance Community Interest Company is focused on growing the market and creating skilled employment opportunities whilst ensuring the best possible regulatory and trading conditions to deliver a high quality sustainable built environment.
Recongnised Construction Details are intended to help with the transition to the Future Homes Standard which targets an 80% reduction in carbon emissions from new homes. The lessons learnt in the wake of the Grenfell Tragedy underline that construction can not be considered in silos, and how materials interface with each other, whether providing thermal efficiency or preventing the spread is critical to creating safe homes.
The Building Alliance has worked with the masonry industry and a leading architects practice to create this freely downloadable pattern book of Recognised Construction Details, which will complement the acoustic details provided by Robust Details.
The portal is free and intuitive to use and is intended to assist architects, energy assessors, homebuilders, and other professionals, to make assured choices that are buildable on site. This will contribute to improving the overall quality and the thermal performance and Fire Safety of the building.
We very much welcome any feedback that will help us future improve this important industry resource.
